Financial Literacy, Career Readiness, and Key Skills for Success
Participants may attend either the Aug. 4 or the Aug. 10 session at the Junior Achievement New Jersey Center located at 360 Pear Blossom Drive in Edison.
Event Description
Junior Achievement of New Jersey is the official partner of the state Department of Education for financial literacy curricula aligned to New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) and educator professional development. This workshop will help teachers and schools meet the revised standards by providing direct access to free curricula and resources aligned to NJSLS-Career Readiness, Life Literacies, and Key Skills (CLKS).
The purpose of this in-person event is to give participants a better understanding of NJSLS-CLKS revisions and the state’s financial literacy graduation requirement, provide information through presentations and interactive discussions on current topics in financial literacy, career readiness, and social-emotional learning, equip teachers with strategies, free resources, and curricula they can use in their classrooms, and engage participants in hands-on activities they can share with their students.
Instructional/Content Area
Overview of NJSLS-CLKS revisions, subject matter expert presentations, collaborative discussions on current issues in financial literacy, New Jersey’s labor market, and the skills students will need for career success, hands-on activities, curriculum, and resources aligned to CLKS, and sharing of teaching strategies and best practices.
Participants will receive five hours of professional development credits when attending the full-day session.
Registration runs through the day of each workshop. Registration is free and includes free continental breakfast and lunch. In addition, all participants will receive a professional development certificate and a $20 gift card. Childcare is available. Interested participants may register at https://janj.ja.org/.
